Healing Grants
At VETS, we help veterans access safe, clinically-guided psychedelic therapies. These innovative treatments are capable of addressing deep psychological and physiological scars, and therefore hold unprecedented healing potential for our nation’s heroes. We ask all Americans to join us on our mission to END veteran suicide.
Whether it’s during training or deployment, the dangers of military service can inflict lingering wounds that often emerge once a veteran returns home. Traumatic brain injuries (TBI), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and moral injury impact the ability of veterans to lead normal, healthy lives. The challenges of civilian life has led to unusually high cases of depression, addiction and, yes, suicide.
Since 9/11, there has been a staggering increase in veterans taking their own lives. Suicide is now the second leading-cause of death for veterans under 45. In order to tackle this unprecedented crisis, we need to explore new treatment options to give our veterans the post-service care they deserve.
Over 700 veterans have turned to VETS to pursue psychedelic-assisted therapy. This number will surpass one thousand by the end of 2024.
93.2% of polled VETS grant recipients feel less depressed after experiencing these groundbreaking treatments.
100% of polled grant recipients recommend VETS programming to fellow veterans.
Sadly, they must leave the United States to receive this life-saving treatment, and neither government nor insurance companies provide any funding for them.
That’s where VETS comes in. Our Foundational Healing Grants enable veterans to access safe, clinically guided psychedelic therapy in countries where these treatments are legal or unregulated. Word is quickly spreading about how effective these therapies are–our waitlist continues to grow, with hundreds of veterans eager to embark upon this promising frontier of medicine.
Marcus and Amber Capone founded VETS in 2019 after their own experience with psychedelic therapy finally provided the healing relief their family needed.
As a Navy SEAL, Marcus faced countless dangers during multiple combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. But after retiring from service in 2013, Marcus found himself in a new kind of war zone—an internal one–with Amber and their two kids caught in the crosshairs.
Our Foundational Healing Grants help veterans and their spouses receive psychedelic-assisted therapies at vetted, third party facilities outside the USA. The grants provide funding, coaching and wrap-around support for recipients and their families. All treatment options are safely monitored by medical professionals.
If you or a loved one are considering psychedelic-assisted therapy, you may have a lot of questions. With the help of our partners, we have created a free online e-course designed for veterans and their families, but available to anyone who wants to learn. The e-course explains the science, history and rationale behind psychedelic-assisted therapies.
We encourage anyone seeking help to contact our partners at the Suicide Prevention Lifeline or the Veterans Crisis Line.
From magic mushrooms to MDMA and ayahuasca to ibogaine—everything you need to know before (and after) taking the leap.
